National Tour - Cape Town

The Stellenbosch Sports Academy, located in Cape Town, has become a key partner in our football development programme. Over the past three years, we’ve established a strong relationship with the Academy, allowing us to regularly tour the region and offer our players a glimpse into the life of a professional athlete.

The Academy hosts elite athletes from various disciplines, including Sevens Rugby, Stellenbosch FC, and international sports professionals. It offers world-class facilities such as fully catered accommodation, high-performance gyms, and top-tier training grounds - providing our players with everything they need to thrive during their stay.

This environment not only supports player development on the field, but also exposes them to a wider footballing network through tournaments and friendly matches against teams in the Cape Town area - broadening their experience beyond Johannesburg.

To enhance their training further, a Brazilian coach joins us on-site to deliver a fresh perspective and introduce unique elements, including beach training, which challenges players on different surfaces and in varied conditions.

Beyond the pitch, players also get the opportunity to explore Cape Town’s iconic landmarks, including Table Mountain, the Cape Town Stadium, and the V&A Waterfront - making it a truly enriching and unforgettable experience.

Our valued international partner, the International Development Academy (IDA), plays an instrumental role in coordinating our annual tour to Spain, held during the November/December period. This two-week experience offers our players an incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in international-level football.

Velocity participates in the prestigious Surf Cup International - an elite tournament that brings together teams from across the globe in a World Cup-style competition. The event is hosted at top-tier facilities, featuring a variety of professional-standard surfaces, including artificial and hybrid grass pitches.

The first week of the tour is spent in Barcelona, where players compete in the tournament and experience the vibrant football culture of the city. The second week takes us to IDA’s high-performance centre in Valencia, where our players engage in intensive training sessions and friendly matches against local opposition.

Beyond football, the tour includes unforgettable cultural experiences, with sightseeing opportunities in both Barcelona and Valencia. Players also enjoy exclusive stadium tours, visiting iconic venues such as Camp Nou, the Santiago Bernabéu, and the Mestalla Stadium.

The Spain tour is more than just a football trip - it’s a life-changing experience that inspires growth, both on and off the pitch.
