National Tour - Cape Town

The period of time that we are looking at will be sometime in September 2023.

The Stellenbosch Sports Academy is based in Cape Town.  We have built a good relationship with Stellenbosch as 2023 will be our 3rd year attending. This allows us to tour to Cape Town and to give the players an idea on how a professional footballer lives and the type of lifestyle to follow. We go to Stellenbosch Sports Academy which is where all athletes stay from sevens rugby, Stellenbosch FC and other international athletes. This facility provides us with everything required from meals, accommodation, gyms, and training facilities. This is a ideal place for our players to benefit as we host tournaments against teams in the Cape Town area and play friendlies to experience different teams out of Johannesburg. We also have a Brazilian coach that assist us there to give different sort of training as well as beach training so players can also experience different playing environments and surfaces. Whilst visiting the players also get to enjoy the lovely scenery of Cape Town as we visit Table Mountain, the Cape Town stadium and the Waterfront. This is experience not to be missed.

Our incredible international partner (International Development Academy - IDA) works closely in making sure we attend the tour to Spain in the November/December period. This is a 2-week adventure allowing our players to experience the international level of football. Velocity competes in Surfs Cup international where teams come from all around the world and compete, it feels like a mini world cup. Facilities are top class with different types of fields, artificial and hybrid gross which professionals play on. For a week we spend time at the tournament in Barcelona and then next move to Valencia to IDA premises where get a week of training and playing friendlies. The players also get to sight see and tour around Barcelona and Valencia as well as experience stadium tours to see Camp Nou, Valencia Stadium and Santiago Bernabeu. 

Spain is a tour all players need to experience as it changes a player’s life.
