Diogo, originally from Brazil, was a talented player we had the privilege of coaching at Velocity Football Academy. He has since taken the next step in his journey, moving overseas and joining the ASM Scholars programme, where he is actively working toward securing a top university scholarship in the United States.

"When I signed with VFA right in its beginning, the team wasn't very large as there were very few players. However, in a short amount of time, more and better players joined the academy and we started playing better and better. I only spent a couple of months at VFA, but the game footage guaranteed that I signed with ASM, a sports agency that facilitates university scholarships for athletes worldwide. So overall, VFA definitely changed my life and I made unforgettable friendships and experiences there."

Tinashe is one of the standout talents to come through Velocity Football Academy. Through the ASM Scholars programme, he earned a scholarship that secured his place at Ohio University, where he continues to thrive both academically and athletically.

After an impressive first year, Tinashe was promoted to the university’s Varsity team and is now on track for potential selection to a Division 1 programme—an exciting step in his football journey.

"VFA had a tremendous impact on my football journey in such a short amount of time. I had gone from individual sessions with coach Aiden to joining his newly created Football club. After a few months of training and playing games at VFA, Coach Aiden connected me with ASM, allowing me to continue my education and football journey in America. I was helped at every step of getting to America as VFA helped me train and provided me with my game footage to create a highlight reel, which helped me prepare for America.

The transition from South Africa to America was difficult initially because I still had to adjust to the new life. Still, eventually, I got the hang of it with time because of the constant support from family, friends, and coaches from back home."

Mordecai is a rising talent to keep an eye on. He is spent the past year in Spain, training under the experienced coaches at IDA and competing with a semi-professional club. His focus remains clear - he’s working towards securing a university scholarship in the United States, and this international experience is a key step in that journey.

"My experience at VFA has been great since I joined in 2022 . All the coaches were welcoming as soon as I joined, they made me feel at home and they have helped me improve and enjoy my experience while keeping it professional and productive. The IDA tour that VFA introduced me to was very helpful for my future and I probably wouldn’t have got that opportunity and exposure anywhere else. Overall it was a great tour so I personally recommend VFA for anyone looking for a club."
